Gaye holud is one of the most important & popular festivals of the Bengali nation. It is basically a wedding ritual that is performed by both the bride and groom before the wedding. The most important thing about turmeric is raw turmeric. On this occasion sweets are sent along with various gifts from the bride and groom in the event organized by the other party. The event is usually attended by the host party. Two or three guests from the other side also joined this ritual with gifts. In the ceremony, the bride and groom are seated on a rug. Everyone present at the ceremony, young and old, smears yellow paste on his cheeks or hands. Along with this some part of the sweets placed in front of the bride or groom is given to him. The materials commonly used in Gaye_holud are: Dala, Kula, Turmeric bowl, Turmeric mat, Cane fish stick, Machdala, Dhakna, Sandalwood, Palki, Sohagpuri, Sandalwood oil, Sonda, Mehndi, Apsan, Mehndi towel, Turmeric romnal. , several sweet foods including sweets.

গায়-এ হলুদ / হলুদ সন্ধ্যা

গায়ে হলুদ বাঙালি জাতির বহু প্রচলিত উৎসবের একটি। এটি মুলতঃ বিয়ে সম্পর্কিত একটি আচার যেটি বিয়ের আগে বর ও কনে উভয় পক্ষ দ্বারা পালিত হয়। গায়ে_হলুদে সবচেয়ে গুরত্ব্বপূর্ণ বিষয়টি হলো কাঁচা হলুদ। বরপক্ষ বা কনেপক্ষের পক্ষ হতে অপরপক্ষের আয়োজিত অনুষ্ঠানে নানান উপহারসামগ্রী সহ মিষ্টি পাঠানো হয়ে থাকে এই অনুষ্ঠানে। এই অনুষ্ঠানে সাধারণত যে পক্ষ আয়োজন করে থাকে তারাই উপস্থিত থাকে। অপর পক্ষেরও দু তিনজন অতিথি উপহার সামগ্রী নিয়ে এই আচারে যোগ দেন। অনুষ্ঠানে বর বা কনেকে একটি পাটির উপর বসানো হয়ে থাকে। অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছোট থেকে বড় সবাই তার গালে বা হাতে হলুদ বাটা মাখিয়ে দেন। সাথে বর বা কনের সামনে রাখা মিষ্টি জাতীয় দ্রব্যাদির কিছু অংশ তাকে তুলে দেয়া হয়। গায়ে_হলুদে কনে গায়-এ হলুদে যে উপকরণগুলো সাধারণত ব্যবহার করা হয় তা হলোঃ ডালা, কুলা , হলুদের বাটি, হলুদের পাটি, বেতের মাছডালা, মাছডালা, ঢাকনা, চন্দন, পালকি, সোহাগপুরি, চন্দন তেল, সোন্দা, মেহেদি, আপসান, মেহেদির তোয়ালে, হলুদের রম্নমাল, মিষ্টি সহ মিষ্টি জাতীয় বেশ কিছু খাবার।
